Windshield Repair

Environmentally friendly and warrantied for as long as you own your car

What is Windshield Repair?

About the Process

Windshield repair, also known as rock chip repair, is a process wherein a resin is injected into a chipped or cracked portion of a windshield, in order to reduce the visibility of the damage and prevent the damage from becoming worse with time.

Why Repair?

There are multiple reasons we recommend repairing your windshield as soon as possible after you suspect it has been damaged:

  • Safety: windshields are a critical element that help keep airbags inside the car and provide support to roof structure, reducing roof crush in case of accidents. Maintaining original factory seal is the preferred choice when possible.

  • Save money: repairing is cheaper than full replacement

  • Fast: quality repairs only take about 30-45 minutes on average

  • Environmentally friendly: no new windshield is needed

Can My Windshield Be Repaired?

Whether or not your windshield can be repaired depends on the extent of the damage. Generally, repair can be attempted as long as the following are true:

  • The chip is the size of a quarter or less.

  • The chip or crack is not directly in the driver's line of sight area.

  • If the damage is a crack, it is under 14 inches long. Slightly longer cracks may be able to be repaired in some cases, but damage spanning almost the entire windshield is not feasible.

These guidelines are not absolute, but are a good start. For more information about your specific case, give us a call or text at (360) 931-0420 and we would be happy to provide you with information regarding your particular situation.

How Does the Process Work?

  1. We will inspect damage for loose glass, dirt, and presence of moisture. If moisture is present, use of a specialized "moisture evaporator" will be used until chip damage is completely dry.

  2. We may drill into the damaged area to make sure tight cracks are connected to impact area.

  3. Using a special injector, we inject an acrylic resin and displace air through alternating pressure and vacuum cycles.

  4. Finally, we cure the resin with an ultraviolet light to harden and bind it to the glass, restoring the integrity of the windshield.

We aim to provide an 80-90% visual improvement through this process. There may still be a small filled drill hole and other slightly visible damage, but customers usually find that they don't notice the remaining visible damage unless they are deliberately looking for it. In addition, the chip should be fully protected from spreading any further, avoiding further damage to the window.

What Does "Warrantied As Long as You Own Your Car" Mean?

Any repairs we perform are warrantied to not spread or "crack out" for as long as you own your vehicle. Additionally, should the repair process fail (less than 1% of cases), there will be no charge for the service, even if the failure is at a later date. We fully stand behind our work and 20 years of experience in the windshield repair industry.
